The 60th edition of Krakow Film Festival – the most important Polish documentary film festival and WATCH DOCS’ longstanding partner – ended on June 7. For almost a decade we have been nominating the most interesting human rights documentaries shown in Krakow and including them in the WATCH DOCS competition. 

This year, two documentaries won such nominations and will be shown in December during the 20th edition of our festival. Both films were appreciated by the jurors of the Krakow Film Festival. The Silver Horn for the film on social issues was awarded to the Iranian director Mehrdad Oskouei for the film "Sunless Shadows", presenting the shocking stories of teenage girls convicted of the crimes against their attackers. In the Polish Grand Prix competition, the Golden Hobby-Horse statuette was awarded to Tomasz Wolski, the director of "An Ordinary Country" - a unique documentary revealing the archives of the secret services and communist police of the Polish People’s Republic.
