It's winter but the events are heating up!

On Saturday and Sunday, you can learn the story of Dalton Harris. This extremely charismatic young man from Jamaica became the first black non-British to win the X-Factor UK talent competition. His popularity has become both a blessing and a curse. The love of Jamaican fans, who were initially proud of their compatriot, has been replaced by hatred. This happened in response to Dalton Harris' revelation of his non-heteronormative identity.

Dalton's Dream was made by legendary British filmmaker Kim Longinotto, who is coming to Warsaw to meet the audience. Join us for a Q&A after the screenings on Saturday at 18:00 at Kinoteka and Sunday at 17:00 at Kino Muranów.

The premiere of the film What if the War Ends Tomorrow will take place at Kinoteka on Sunday at 17:00. In it, Martyna Wojciechowska and Hanna Jewsiewicka present the poignant stories of women who experienced violence during the war in Ukraine. It is a documentary about sisterhood at a moment of great trial, about how sometimes a hug means more than hundreds of words. About the strength of Ukrainian women bearing the gigantic burden of war, even if they are not fighting on the front line.

After the screening of this film, we invite you to the debate "Fragments of War - how to talk to survivors" - we will talk about how to listen to people who experienced war so that they feel listened to while avoiding the risk of re-traumatisation. (in Polish only)

The first festival weekend also includes a screening and Q&A after the film Pray for Our Sinners (Saturday 18:15 Kinoteka). In it, an Irish journalist reveals the sinister realities of a Catholic centre for single mothers. Dawid Dróżdż in Gazeta Wyborcza writes: "Sinéad O'Shea has made a harrowing documentary about how the Church systemically used violence against women and children".
